Noble Metal Modified TiO2 Hierarchically Structured Microspheres with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity

Anatase TiO2 hierarchically structured microspheres with co-exposed {001}/{101} facets were prepared by a facile one-pot hydrothermal method. The influences of reaction temperature on the morphology and crystallization investigated systematically. obtained possessed better when was 160 °C. Different noble metals (Au, Ag, Cu, Pt, Pd) used for modification, experimental results exhibited that photocatalytic activities metal modified enhanced obviously, especially Pt-modified sample (TPt), which showed highest activity in degradation tetracycline hydrochloride (the TPt largest improvement, i.e., reached 1.47 times higher than bare sample) hydrogen production improvement also observed sample, more 30 as reaching 300 μmol·g−1·h−1). Finally, mechanism involving synergy crystal proposed according to as-obtained results.

Surface modification of TiO2 with NaOH promoted the chemisorption, activation and photocatalytic CO2 reduction. An optimized loading amount of NaOH kept a good balance between CO2 chemisorption quantity and BET surface area of TiO2. This noble metal free method provides a simple pathway for effective multiple H(+)/e(-) CO2 photoreduction.
